On the eve of the Kharkov City Council held a working meeting on the threats that bears for children stay in cyberspace.

It was attended by Deputy Mayor of Kharkov Svetlana Gorbunova-Ruban, representatives of juvenile prevention and public organizations, experts in the field of cybersecurity, representatives of student self-government and others. The topic of the meeting: "The impact of modern information technologies on the physical condition and mental development of children and adolescents. Adult Responsibility.

According to the vice-mayor, for today the problem of safe stay of children on the Internet is one of the most urgent and topical, and it is necessary to solve it, starting with the family.

“Any child should spend the greatest amount of time in the family, but, unfortunately, not everyone can do it. Sometimes parents do not have enough time for children, regardless of their social status and place of work, ”Svetlana Gorbunova-Ruban noted..

In such a situation, children head over to the Internet.. And this problem, according to the vice-mayor, concerns both children from wealthy families and those who do not have free access to the home network..

"If children from wealthy families are more committed to various shooters and races, then children from low-income families who do not have access to a computer at home are looking for sites where they can regret and listen. And, as a rule, it draws children into a funnel of pity, which ends in a great tragedy - mental breakdown, stress and even suicide.. And this must be recognized, since such a situation is already becoming a social phenomenon, "Svetlana Gorbunova-Ruban emphasized..

Within the framework of the meeting, the participants discussed the issues of security of staying in cyberspace and restricting access to undesirable content, cyber fraud, dependence on online games, cyberbullying and other threats, which are for children uncontrolled use of the Internet.

The meeting participants decided to develop and implement in Kharkiv a comprehensive program “Informational vaccination”, which will allow children to be protected from the threats arising during the use of information technologies.. All relevant city structures, representatives of juvenile prevention, public organizations, psychologists and computer technology specialists will be involved in this work.. In two weeks it is planned to present the first developments on this program..
