According to the operative data of the Public Health Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, during the 35th week of 2018 436 people fell ill on measles - 214 adults and 222 children. This is 18.9% less than the previous week. Thus, the reduction in measles incidence continues for the third consecutive week.
Since the beginning of the year, 30,363 people have succumbed to measles - 12 440 adults and 17 923 children.
Most people fell ill at measles in Lviv (total 5 913 people: 1,862 adults and 4 051 children), Transcarpathian (total 3 037 people: 573 adults and 2 464 children), Ivano-Frankivsk (total of 2,785 people: 793 adults and 1,382 children), Odessa (total 2,382 people: 1,012 adults and 1,181 children), the city of Kiev (total 2,222 people: 1,335 adults and 787 children) and Ternopil (total 1,628 people: 634 adults and 994 children) fields.
In total, 13 people died from measles complications since the beginning of the year: 9 children and 4 adults.
In the course of 2018, mandatory preventive vaccinations against measles for epidemiological indications are provided: among the occupational risk groups: medical workers, educational institutions and non-medical workers in public health institutions, representatives of law enforcement agencies (Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Defense, SBU, National Police of Ukraine, National Guard of Ukraine, Border Guard Service of Ukraine, State Security Service); students of educational institutions without age restriction.
For the immunization of these adult groups in Ukraine, vaccines are available in all regions.
