At the Mezze airbase of the Syrian government forces near Damascus on the night of Sunday, September 2, a series of explosions occurred. The reason was a short circuit in the ammunition stockpile, the Syrian state news agency SANA reported referring to interlocutors in military circles. Witnesses mention a strong fire and thick smoke above the airbase.

Previously, as a reason called a possible air strike by Israel. Later, a representative of the Syrian army said that there was no "Israeli aggression", writes DW.
