Archaeologists have discovered the remains of the fortification walls of the 12th century on the territory of the Kievo-Pechersk Historical and Cultural Reserve. This was during a briefing told the candidate of historical sciences Sergei Taranenko, said on Wednesday, August 15, UNN.

"The remains of ancient Russian designs of various degrees of preservation are discovered, namely the foundations, half-ruined fragments of the wall and the foundation base," Taranenko said..

The scientist added that this stone wall of the Kiev-Pechersky monastery became known thanks to the message of Hegumen Vasily (1182-1197), who built a stone fence around the monastery.

Taranenko noted that the remains of these fortifications were first discovered in 1951 during archaeological research.

The representative of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine Tamara Mazur said that today archaeological work is carried out at the expense of the reserve, but in the future the state.
