Since September, the Italian Ministry of Culture is going to cancel the action "Sunday in the Museum". Now every first Sunday of the month in any state museum in Italy you can visit for free.

In the days of free visits, crowds of visitors (primarily tourists) interfere with local residents and overload transport networks, the Ministry of Culture. The free visit program was launched in 2014, and in 2017 it was used by more than 3.5 million people, notes Europulse.

The abolition of the state program does not mean that museums in Italy will no longer be free to visit. The museums themselves will be able to come up with initiatives, independently or with the support of the ministry.

For example, several state museums free women on March 8 for several years in a row. And the Egyptian Museum in Turin annually on Valentine's Day arranges the action "2 tickets for the price of one" for lovers.

Days (or hours) of free visits are in many famous museums in Europe - for example, in the Louvre.
