From May 30 to mid-September, at one of the aerodromes of the Society for the Promotion of Defense of Ukraine, located near Kharkov, about 30 sophomores of the flying faculty of the Kharkov National Air Force University named after Ivan Kozhedub improve their professional skills.

By this time, together with the instructor pilots at speeds of up to 200 kilometers per hour at altitudes of 150 to 1000 meters, such flight missions successfully worked out: flight in a circle and in a zone for simple pilotage. After that, they were admitted to self-management of light-engine aircraft. In military aviation, this line of training is poetically called "becoming on the wing".

"Flights to the KhAZ-30 are the development of the first level of training of an army pilot. At the second level, the guys will be climbing the sky already on jet L-39 Albatross and transport An-26. And at the highest step of the conquest of the sky, the cadets will board the combat aircraft of the MiG-29, Su-27 or Su-25 type, "said the Chief of the Flight Faculty of the HNVWS, the first class military pilot-instructor Colonel Gennady Dubovik.

According to the new tradition, after returning from the first independent flight, the boys were given T-shirts with the symbols of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This symbolic gift is now very proud cadet sophomore Alexei. A twenty-five-year-old boy started military service as a soldier-conscript in an air connection, then signed a contract, but the rank-and-file was not limited to. Therefore, two years ago I decided to enter the military university.

"I remember the first flight badly, because, as I was taught, I focused on the algorithm of actions and discarded unnecessary emotions. The joy of victory I fully felt only on the landing, when my friends picked me up and planted it several times. I made only the first step to the lieutenant shoulder straps, but that's enough for me to never again turn off this interesting path, "the cadet shared his thoughts.

At the same time, their senior comrades in the flying department of the KNUVS - cadets of third-fifth courses - in different parts of Ukraine also successfully fly within their flying practices.

Particular pride in the command of the educational institution is caused by graduates who, before September 2018, master combat planes and helicopters.

"The result of the painstaking work of our fifth year students in the classrooms or at the aerodromes is that in October the guys will have about 275 hours of total flying time. This will allow them to protect our Ukraine at a high level. Undoubtedly, this will greatly enhance the potential of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, "added Colonel Gennady Dubovik.
