American researchers from the medical school of Northwestern University came to the conclusion that spending the night in a lighting environment is extremely harmful to the body - this is fraught with the development of dangerous consequences in the form of serious diseases. Their arguments they published in the magazine Sleep. Night rest, even in dim light, is harmful - with an increase in insulin resistance and an increase in insulin levels in the blood. Insulin resistance, experts recalled, is an exchange disorder, against which weight is growing and cardiovascular deviations develop, as well as type 2 diabetes. Experiments involving 20 healthy volunteers aged 18 to 40 years who slept in the clinic under the supervision of doctors demonstrated: only a dream in total darkness can be considered healthy. In particular, during the tests, one night participants were held under dim lighting of 100 lux (considered the norm of lighting for hallways or on stairs). Data of the polysomnogram conducted to people, as well as blood samples and its analysis allowed scientists to conclude that even one night in light conditions can lead to dramatic processes for the body.

"After a night spent with light, insulin resistance and insulin levels were noticeably higher than after sleeping in the dark. If this is the effect of just one night, then the results of constant sleep in the light should be much more sad, "- said in this regard the researchers.

Diabetes of the second type, caused by the development of insulin resistance, may be a harbinger of cancer - this is evidenced by the latest scientific data. It was found that at the age of 60 years, the detection of diabetes often precedes the appearance of pancreatic tumors.
