On Sunday, July 1, the mayor of Lviv, Andrei Sadovy and the Mayor of Wroclaw, Rafal Dutkiewicz, together with public activists paid tribute to the professors who were shot in July 1941. As the President of Wroclaw said after laying flowers, the Wroclaw community supports Lviv and Ukraine in the struggle for the release of political prisoners in Russia. This is reported by espreso. tv.
"First of all, many thanks to Mr. Rafal and the community. Wroclaw for the fact that there was this idea and there was a lot of joint efforts to make this monument appear in memory of the tortured, executed professors. When this idea arose, no one could even think that there would be a war and part of our territory would be in occupation. We must remember this, we must appeal to the world about this, we must squeeze out the enemy from our land. Also today, I appeal to everyone to let us know about our prisoners - Oleg Sentsov and many others who are in Russian Turks today. We must do everything possible to ensure that they are released, "- said Andrei Sadovy, the mayor of Lviv.
According to him, Lviv and Wroclaw are those two cities that are more connected with each other and this unity is the guarantee of large joint projects.
Recall that in July 1941, the Nazis arrested 21 professors of higher educational institutions in Lviv, as well as their relatives - only 52 people. All of them were Poles by origin. After a short interrogation in one of the buildings of the Lviv Polytechnic, on July 4, the arrested were taken to the hills of the Vuletsky Hills to a previously excavated pit and shot. Now at this place a memorial.
