American Congressman Democrat Adam Schiff believes that Donald Trump at a meeting with Vladimir Putin should openly oppose Russia's "interference" in the American elections. However, he fears that this meeting of the two presidents will be a blow to NATO and the US allies. "But I'm afraid that instead the summit will be a gift to the Kremlin," the statement by Schiff, a leading Democrat in the House Committee of the Congress, quotes the Washington Post. Meeting of the Presidents of Russia and the US will be held in Helsinki on July 16. During the meeting, it is planned to discuss the prospects for further development of relations between the two countries, as well as the themes of the international agenda. The investigation of Russia's imputed interference in US elections and the alleged links between Trump and the Russian Federation is handled by a special prosecutor, Robert Muller, as well as US Senate and House intelligence committees.

However, Russia denies these accusations, believing them to be unsubstantiated.
