It has long been known that industrial solvents are harmful to health. Jerouin Duves and Samuel Cyr from the New Zealand University of Massey conducted a study and found that it is not enough to observe precautionary measures, because even the minimum amount of substance can affect the human brain.
In their study, presented in the scientific Internet resource The Conversation, experts tracked the reaction of more than 500 employees of different organizations and professions to the substance.
The easiest way to work with the substance is builders. They had better coordination of movements, they did not have a strong tremor in their hands, less irritation was felt.
Experts insist that workers underestimate the harm of solvents. Those who do not work directly with substance handling neglect protective equipment and safety rules. Therefore, workers suffer from a deterioration in mood, memory and concentration disorders, loss of fine motor skills and agility movements.
The most dangerous are those who have to mix colors or clean something.
