The 10th channel of Israeli television showed a report about autists serving in Israeli military intelligence. There is a special unit in which young men and women with various disorders of the autism spectrum serve.
The initiative of its creation belongs to the ex-director of the Israel External Intelligence Service "Mossad" Tamir Pardo.
Autists deal mainly with the analysis of maps and aerial photographs appearing on computer screens.
Because of the peculiarities of thinking, they pay attention to the smallest details, the account of which, when preparing military operations on the ground, allows to prevent possible losses of personnel. Thus, scouting autosaves the lives of soldiers.
It is also important that in the service process, the IDF helps autistic soldiers acquire skills that help them in their everyday lives.
The autist is able to process visual and textual information several times faster than a person who does not suffer from autism spectrum disorders. This feature of theirs was indispensable in high-tech.
In the Danish company Specialisterne, specializing in technological counseling, 75 percent of employees are autistic people and people who have Asperger's syndrome, also referred to as the autistic spectrum.
From ordinary workers, they are distinguished by an incredible attention to detail, superhuman concentration, the ability to quickly process huge amounts of information. These skills are especially useful for program testers. The quality of work of autists engaged in this work is several times higher than the quality of work of ordinary people. Autists can check the technical documentation for 4000 pages 10 times faster than ordinary people and do not miss a single mistake.
