Georgian Prime Minister Georgy Kvirikashvili resigned amid massive protests, explaining his step by disagreements with the leader of the ruling party Bidzina Ivanishvili.

"We had some disagreements with the leader of the ruling party," Kvirikashvili said.. "I think the time has come when the party leader should be able to form a new cabinet".

In Tbilisi, protests and rallies have not ceased since late May demanding a fair investigation into the murder of teenagers at the end of last year.

Last December, 16-year-old schoolchildren David Saralidze and Levan Dadunashvili were killed in Tbilisi.

A brutal murder in the center of the city caused great resonance in Georgia. Since then, protests have not subsided.
