US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will visit China on June 14, official spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China Geng Shuang said, Trend reports..

"At the invitation of Wang Yi, member of the PRC State Council and Foreign Minister, the US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, will pay a visit to China on June 14," Geng Shuang said in a statement.

The representative of the foreign ministry of China noted that during the visit the parties will discuss the development of China-US relations, as well as exchange views on the most important international and regional issues of mutual interest.

This is Pompeo's first trip to China as US Secretary of State.

Earlier, Pompeo said that after the meeting between US President Donald Trump and the leader of the DPRK, Kim Jong-un in Singapore plans to meet with Japanese and South Korean counterparts. He also said that on June 14 he will make a stop in Beijing, where he will hold "discussions with Chinese officials on bilateral, regional and global issues affecting both countries".
