The world looks forward to the upcoming meeting of US President Donald Trump with North Korean leader Kim Jong-Eun. Will the denuclearization of the Korean peninsula be achieved? Are the expectations of both participants in the summit justified? Will the collapse of these expectations-if they turn out to be too high-lead to an even more serious conflict? - writes on the portal EspresoTV journalist Vitaly Portnikov.

But a few days before the momentous meeting an event occurred that claims to appear in history textbooks with much greater probability than the dialogue of the American president with the dictator of a poor isolated country. This event is a quarrel between Western leaders after the G-7 summit.

In fact, it is difficult to recall when the President of the United States exchanged such harsh statements with the leaders of the leading countries of the civilized world, besides - the most loyal allies of the United States. The leaders of France, Canada and Britain were in tune with their assessments of the actions of the US president. The leaders of Germany and Japan are more cautious, but their positions on the whole coincide with those of other leaders. And even the new Italian prime minister, who can try to play Trump's card, can not fail to understand that Italy's economic interests do not coincide with US interests in the version of Trump. And the economy in the world often governs politics.

The isolation of North Korea is a problem, first of all, for its inhabitants, hostages of a brutal ignorant dictatorship. The isolation of the United States is a real catastrophe. Global catastrophe. Because in the case of this isolation, in case of confrontation with the allies, the US can not play the role of the leader of the civilized world. Because this difference of interests can be used - and already used - by authoritarian regimes from Moscow to Tehran. Because the irresponsibility of Western leaders has always led to catastrophes of a global scale.

But, in fact, to engage in lamentations there is no point. This conflict could easily be foreseen on the day that Donald Trump was elected president of the United States - and now it finally happened. From this conflict it is necessary to draw conclusions, rather than engage in lamentations.

We need to understand that no conservative foreign policy advisers can completely "straighten out" the Trump rate - because they do not influence its decisions on the economy. And Trump's economic team - judging by her reaction to the G-7 summit - is close to the views and ideas about the world to the president himself.

You do not need to console yourself with the illusion that the American president can be stopped in all his actions by Congress. Can not. If Trump wants to invite Putin again to the G8, the rest of the format. But if Trump wants to meet with Putin himself - nobody will interfere with him. The phrase "we rule the world here", which Trump said when explaining his desire to see Putin at the negotiating table, is the concept of Putin, not Trudeau or Macron. Therefore, the American and Russian leaders will easily understand each other. Agree on the substance - yes, it is difficult. But speaking in one category is easy.

Another very important conclusion to be drawn, first of all, to Ukrainian politicians is to rely first of all on ourselves. Ukrainian politicians for decades lived in the belief that the implementation of the recommendations of Moscow guarantees them political survival. After 2014, in the minds of many, Moscow was replaced by Washington.

So it should be noted that there is nowhere else a single decision-making center.

Only maneuvers between influential players, only the ability to use their differences, only the desire to defend, first of all, Ukrainian interest will bring success in any relationship - with Americans, Europeans, Russians.

In fact, the conflict of the West for us - not only a test, but also a chance. The chance to build a country that we want to build, and not the country that other countries offer us.
