Only 9% of Russians believe that the age of retirement should be increased, 82% are negative about this idea. These are the results of a survey conducted by the Foundation Public opinion at the end of May 2018. opponents of raising the retirement age believe that most simply will not live to the expected pension, since many do not have the health to work, and they are wondering when to live for themselves. At the same time, 62% of respondents are satisfied with the current retirement age for men - 60 years, and 5% called it too late - in their opinion, a man should retire at 55-59 years. At the same time, almost a third of Russians surveyed, 28%, are sure that men should retire after 60 years. According to 63% of respondents, women should retire at 55, as it is now, 6% believe that you can get out earlier, and quite a lot - 27% - believe that at this age you still need to work. On the question of why the state considers it necessary to raise the retirement age, 19% of Russians answered that there is no money, there is nothing to pay pensions. Another 16% believe that the state simply does not want to pay pensions, 11% are sure that it is necessary to replenish the budget. Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has already promised that the government will make proposals to raise the retirement age in the State Duma in the near future. Now in Russia, men retire at 60, women in 55. For comparison, in the United States, the retirement age is 67 years for both men and women, 65 years for Canada, 62.5 years for France, 60 years for men and 50-55 for women.
