Crimean security forces neutralized a gang of dangerous extremists. The group was going to commit a series of crimes to intimidate Crimean Tatars loyal to Moscow. The criminals were led from Kiev. Curb the activities of the group was due to the joint actions of the FSB and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the FSB Public Relations Center. According to the intelligence services, a certain Erol Veliyev, an assistant to Verkhovna Rada deputy Mustafa Dzhemilev, led the gang. Direct instructions were given to Veliyev by the leader of the extremist organization "Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People", banned in Russia, Refat Chubarov. The Security Service of Ukraine supervised the activities of the bandits. In addition to Veliyev, the group included former sports boxers Steshenko and Tretyakov. The group was based in Kharkov, and its members came to Crimea only to conduct actions. For each successful operation, its members were promised $ 500 each. The law enforcement agencies believe that this trio planned to commit crimes "on the grounds of political hostility with the aim of intimidating pro-Russian Crimean Tatars and forcing interethnic tension on the territory of the Republic of Crimea". One of such diversions has already been managed by criminals. In January they undermined the house of Mufti Emirali Ablaev with the help of Molotov cocktails. Then a criminal case was initiated on the article on willful damage to property. So far, only one of the three members of the group has got into the hands of law enforcers: Stashenko. In April, he was seen and detained at the entrance to the territory of Crimea to prepare and commit provocations on the eve of the anniversary of the signing of the presidential decree on the rehabilitation of repressed peoples. His accomplices Veliyev and Tretyakov are wanted. Against all three members of the gang criminal cases are opened. On the leader of the group - on hch. 1 and 1. 1 st. 282. 1 of the Criminal Code (the creation of an extremist community and the recruitment of individuals in the activities of the extremist community), against rank-and-file members -. 2 items. 282. 1 (participation in an extremist community). Political scientist, member of the Public Chamber of the Republic of Kazakhstan Denis Baturin believes that members of the banned Mejlis prepared provocations in the Crimea in order to spoil the image of the Russian peninsula. "Crimea without Ukraine demonstrates serious success, and the Mejlis for almost two decades actually did not build anything, did not create, but only caused trouble - not as a Crimean-Tatar people, which he allegedly represented, but as an organization that created inconvenience to citizens and violated the laws. Therefore, I repeat, we can wait for various attempts on the part of the Mejlis to influence the situation, "said the expert on Sputnik radio.
