Diplomatic tension between Saudi Arabia and Qatar led to the fact that the CA banned in its country, among other things, the Qatar TV channel beIN Sports. This channel has the rights to display in the Middle East matches of the World Cup, the English Premier League, the Champions League and the FA Cup final.
After the ban, Saudi Arabia still broadcasts beIN Sports, only with a delay of ten seconds and an overlaid logotype beOutQ. The air is broadcast by the same experts in the same studio as the Qatari TV channel.
The channel is available only to Internet users in Saudi Arabia. To use beOutQ you need to buy a decoder for about 100 euros.
Guide beIN spent about 140 thousand euros to find out how the translation is stolen. However, so far they have only managed to establish that the traces lead to the capital of Saudi Arabia, Riyadh.
"The stolen signal is transmitted by the satellite provider Arabsat, which is located in Riyadh, and its main shareholder is the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia," said managing director beIN Sports Tom Kiveni.
"This requires a very deep knowledge and skills, as well as many millions of dollars of sponsorship. This is not done by someone in his bedroom ".
Each user of beIN Sports has a unique identification number called Fingerprint ("fingerprint") and usually it can detect fraudulent activities, but the creators of beOutQ were able to hide this information.
Representatives of the Ministry of Culture and Information of Saudi Arabia did not respond to The Independent on the request to comment on the situation.
