As it became known, Shakhtar received an official proposal for Matvienko from Empoli. In a letter sent to the "miners", the Italian club asked about the cost of the football player, and also expressed a desire to lease it for the 2018-2019 season with the subsequent right of redemption.

This season, Matvienko spent 18 matches in the Ukrainian championship, not noticing the results of the action.
