Midfielder Cagliari Joao Pedro is very happy that he was disqualified for only six months.

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) sought a four-year suspension of Joao Pedro, who failed two doping tests, but he received only six months of bans, reports The Score.

In February, the Brazilian test for hydrochlorothiazide was positive.

"After this punishment, I seemed to have been born again, given that the prosecutor's office required four years of disqualification," said the Brazilian.

He will be able to return to the game for Cagliari on September 16 - much of his disqualification will be for an off-season break.

The 26-year-old Pedro insists that he took illicit substances in ignorance as part of food additives.
