Today, the National Park of Volcanoes in Hawaii, on whose territory Kilauea is located, was closed. The US Geological Society warned that a fire-erupting eruption could explode a few days later. Scientists have noticed that the level of lava in the crater has dropped, which may indicate its clogging. Perhaps a large amount of magma accumulates underground. If the level of lava becomes even lower, groundwater will begin to enter the crater, and this will lead to powerful explosions, according to Science Alert.

From the crater hundreds of meters around will be scattered huge stones weighing up to 12 tons, and the ash will be carried to kilometers by the wind and clog the surrounding settlements. According to scientists, if the processes in the volcano will go as it is now, then the explosions are very likely already in the middle of summer. Kilauea has already evacuated about 1700 people and destroyed 36 buildings. This happened when a moving stream of underground magma last week burst from the ground in a residential area some 64 km from the top of the volcano, creating rivers of molten lava and toxic gases.
