After several unsuccessful attempts, the Iranian judicial authorities blocked the Telegram messenger. Unlike Russia, the blockage was effective: experts say that most of the 40 million Iranian Telegram users will eventually lose access to the messenger.
The decision to block was taken by one of the departments of the Iranian court on media and culture issues. Internet providers were instructed to block access to the messenger under the threat of criminal prosecution.
"Access to Telegram has lost 40 million people, so they say in the company itself. This is about the same as in Iran, Internet users. If in Iran someone has the Internet, he has a Telegram, "says Pakzad.
The Iranian government has already blocked several social platforms, including Facebook, Viber and Instagram.
