Coach of the national wrestling team of Ukraine Murad Sargsyan told about the reasons why Jean Belenyuk did not go to the European wrestling championship, which takes place in the Russian city of Kaspiisk.

Such a decision was made because of the athlete's connection with the armed forces of Ukraine, the coach said in an interview with XSPORT.

"The fact is that he is connected with the armed forces of Ukraine, and they are really forbidden to perform in Russia. This was a unanimous decision, no one doubted the team. If you do not participate, you will not go to the World Cup, to the Olympic Games. Political problems are temporary, we all hope that soon everything will end, "Sargassian said. Belenuk learned about the ban a week before the departure. As the athlete himself noted, he spent a lot of time and energy in preparation for these competitions.

Note that the European Championship is held from April 30 to May 6, 2018. In all, 30 sportsmen went to these competitions from Ukraine.
