Opposition blocked the center of Yerevan

This morning supporters of the Armenian opposition took to the next march in Yerevan. A number of central streets of the Armenian capital were blocked by protesters.

Several hundred oppositionists block the movement at pedestrian crossings, the passage to the Republic Square, Tumanyan and Pushkin streets and Mashtots avenue is blocked. The police monitor what is happening, but does not intervene.

At 18:00 local time on the Republic Square opposition rally begins.

Protest actions in Armenia continue from April 13 - opposition opposed the election of former President Serzh Sargsyan as prime minister. As a result, Sargsyan's parliament still chose, but six days later he resigned.

The parliament will consider the issue of a new premiere on May 1.

This post is claimed by the opposition leader Nikol Pashinyan. For the election he needs to get a simple majority of votes - 53 out of 105. Three parliamentary factions stated their readiness to vote for his candidacy: "Tsarukyan Block", "Dashnaktsutyun" and "Elk".
