The GLONASS Russian Global Navigation Satellite System Failed. Over the past few days, at once two spacecraft of this system alternately went out of order.

According to Interfax, the signal from GLONASS-M No. 734 disappeared on April 19, a few days later, the communication with GLONASS-M No. 723 was lost. In June, the first satellite is scheduled to be replaced by the backup GLONASS-M No. 756, which is still on Earth.

Thus, 22 GLONASS-M satellites are in orbit. To cover the whole world, 24 working spacecraft are needed, but after losing the signal from two satellites, the system does not work. The territory of Russia covers the signal of 18 satellites, so there were no failures.

Meanwhile, it became known on the eve that Russia has since 2018 ceased state financing of the GLONASS operator. This was at a meeting with President Vladimir Putin, said Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin.
