If the child does not get enough sleep, this increases the likelihood that he will suffer from obesity or at least excess weight by 58%. And this is true for both very young children and adolescents under 18 years old.

In turn, a set of excess weight can lead to health problems, such as heart disease and diabetes. Therefore, scientists argue that doctors and doctors are very important to remind parents of the importance of proper nutrition, exercise and enough time to sleep.

Experts at the University of Warwick have reviewed information on 75499 children from 42 previous studies. Each child was followed for an average of 3 years. On the duration of sleep, scientists received information from their parents or measured them using native technologies such as Fitbit. Depending on whether their sleep matched the recommendations of the National Sleep Foundation, the children were divided into two groups - those who did not sleep enough and those who slept. The American organization claims that children between the ages of 11 months and 4 years should sleep approximately 12-15 hours every night. Children aged 3 to 5 years can sleep 10-13 hours, and children from 14 to 17 years can sleep 8-10 hours.

Dr. Michelle Miller, who worked on the study, summarized the results of her work: "Excess weight can lead to cardiovascular diseases and type 2 diabetes, which are increasingly diagnosed among children. Our study shows that lack of sleep is an important factor that can lead to obesity in a child ". She added: "The results demonstrate a close relationship between sleep and excess weight, which is preserved at any age of the child".
