More than 26 thousand residents of the German city of Paderborn were evacuated because of the neutralization of the bomb of the Second World War, Trend reports citing DPA.

A British bomb weighing 1.8 tons was found in the garden of one of the houses a week and a half ago. The bomb was at a depth of 80 centimeters, so its detonation can lead to great destruction.

The authorities announced an evacuation within a radius of 1.5 kilometers from the bomb. Among the institutions to be evacuated are two hospitals, several nursing homes and a university. In addition, their homes are forced to leave residents of certain areas of the historic city center.

For evacuated persons temporary shelters were organized. Police, firefighters, emergency officials and more than a thousand volunteers are watching to ensure that people completely liberate the danger zone.
