On Wednesday and Thursday, on April 4 and 5, the first Spanish opera composed by composer Juan Hidalgo de Polanco on the libretto of Pedro Calderon himself will perform on the Great Stage - "Love Kills". This performance about love and revenge became an absolute hit in today's Moscow and for the second season goes on with a sold-out. Spectators are located directly on the stage - under the open grate-skies, in which, like in the old theater, nymphs fly over their heads. The musical director and conductor of the production is maestro Andrew Lawrence-King, who assembled at the Natalia Sats Theater a unique ensemble of baroque instruments so that the audience could hear how old music really sounded. On Friday and Saturday, April 6 and 7, on the Small Stage, the Italian opera of the year 1600 will be shown - "The Game of the Soul and the Body" by Emilio de Cavalieri. "The first opera in the history of mankind, the opera, which was written at the beginning of the seventeenth century as a man's conversation with neither more nor less than God, seemed to us important to do as a chamber, intimate conversation when - eyes in the eye with the artist, when you can reach by when you can reach it is impossible to hide lies. Because this theme, which is absolutely "outdated" after 400 years - the theme of man's spiritual path, can only be said: in close proximity to one another, that is, in the space of the Small Scene, "said George Isaakian. On Sunday, April 8, on the Small Stage, you will be able to see the opera of Georg Friedrich Handel "Alcina, or the Magic Island". All the roles in it are performed by women, and behind the conductor's console reigns Alevtina Ioffe - one of the finest operas of baroque.
