Last month, the Web became a viral photo of the African teacher Richard Akoto, who had to teach computer science, drawing windows of various programs with chalk on a blackboard. A man works in an elementary school in the Ghanaian village, where there is not a single computer, but still tries to prepare students for the national exam in computer science, writes Quartz.
After the pictures from the lessons of Akoto broke up over the media and social networks, many volunteered to help the teacher. Internet users expressed their readiness to transfer money to buy equipment, and later Microsoft even paid attention to the situation, which promised to give a computer.
Akoto himself thanked Microsoft, but noted that one computer will not change much - for a full-fledged training village needs at least a few dozen devices. One of these days, another company was volunteered to help the village teacher - the computer school NIIT: the students of Akoto were given at once five computers, and he himself received a personal laptop. Many residents of Ghana also offered to nominate Akoto for the national "Teacher of the Year" award: her winner receives a house as a present in a place that she chooses.
