The authors of the new development called "Sparc" were the scientists of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the company Fusion Systems, informs the EI.
Their way of producing super-cheap "green" energy is based on the principle of operation of new high-temperature superconductors and compact super-strong magnets. The system, according to scientists, will allow to achieve such a synthesis reaction, which will provoke as much energy as necessary for the operation of the reactor.
To implement their ideas, it is necessary to build a reactor. Their project "Spars" has already raised $ 50 million. After the erection of the structure, the developers hope to supply free energy to a small American town.
The idea of ??constructing a reactor for the production of renewable energy appeared in them as a result of the successful experience of using superconductors for the production of small powerful magnets, which are a key component of fusion reactors. It is the magnets that make it possible to create a field that retains the melting reaction and does not contact the walls of the reactor. It turns out that the researchers were able to achieve a situation in which the problem of melting plasma that is heated to a million degrees Celsius is solved.
