Often happens, that appointments of the doctor in compounding and time (frequency) of reception of tablets, are broken. From ignorance and in a hurry, because we mistakenly believe that a combination of drugs will strengthen the effect, or at all, to accept everything, and forget about them.

It turns out that there are several drugs that should never be taken together, because it is fraught with serious consequences!.

We bring to your attention an important list of medicines, the combination of which with each other poses a danger to health and even human life.

Cough medicine and antihistamines Many over-the-counter cough suppressants and antihistamines drugs for allergies) contain similar substances in their composition, therefore, taking both drugs together, you risk getting an excessive dose, which will greatly enhance the sedative effect.

Uncontrolled drowsiness can pose a risk to those who, not knowing about the sedative effect of this combination, will manage a serious apparatus, machine or car. Even taking cough medicine and antihistamines, before going to bed, when the whole night of rest is ahead, in the morning you can feel yourself unusually weak.

Antidepressants and painkillers Anyone who has ever been prescribed antidepressants or painkillers probably knows that they can not be taken together. And your doctor told you about this not because he does not want you to be happy, but because he cares about your health.

And SSRIs (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors belonging to one of the classes of antidepressants) and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs, which are often used as pain killers and antipyretics) increase the risk of bleeding in the stomach and esophagus to 600 (!)%, That is six times. A recent study by Dutch specialists showed that taking a combination of these two drugs even more often provokes gastrointestinal bleeding compared to taking each of these drugs separately.

Both SSRIs and NSAIDs are triptans and affect the level of serotonin. The result of their interaction is not only an increase in the danger of internal bleeding, but also unpleasant side effects: anxiety, fever, palpitations and breathing.

Anticoagulants and aspirin In many countries, anticoagulants are considered quite serious drugs and are sold only on prescription. They are appointed to reduce the formation of blood clots in the arteries.

Aspirin is included in the number of OTC drugs and is often used to reduce pain. However, many do not know that this drug also dilutes blood and is known as an antiaggregant. When aspirin is taken with an anticoagulant, their overall effect can significantly increase your chances of developing internal and external bleeding.

Analgesics and sedatives And anti-anxiety drugs, and opioid pain killers, such as codeine and morphine, act as sedatives. If you take these drugs at the same time, their toxic effect increases. Such an overdose of antidepressants can significantly reduce both the respiratory rate and the heart rate, sometimes to a lethal level.

People who take these drugs in combination are likely to receive prescriptions for them from different doctors and buy them at different pharmacies. This method is also called "shopping for doctors" - the patient deliberately visits several doctors, receiving from them prescriptions for drugs, and each of the doctors does not know about the appointments of another.

Unfortunately, because of the combined effect of these drugs on the respiratory system, the outcome of their total intake for a person can be fatal.

Acetaminophen and opioids Despite their popularity, these drugs can be very dangerous if taken in amounts exceeding the recommended dose. Often people try to increase the effect of acetaminophen by taking it with codeine-containing drugs. When these two drugs are taken together, they can very quickly cause serious damage to the liver.

A 2015 study in Seattle found that 38% of people developed acute liver failure due to the fact that they accidentally took too large a dose of the drug or more than one kind of tablets. And in those who took medicines containing both acetaminophen and opioids, acute liver failure developed in 63% of cases.
