The European part of the qualification for the World Cup in 2018 brought UEFA more than a billion euros - this was announced by the financial director of the organization Josef Koller.

"The total income of UEFA from the European qualifying round to the World Cup-2018 amounted to more than 1 billion euros. Revenue for the fiscal year increased by 6 percent, and the amount for the season 2016-2017 was 2.8 billion euros ".

"85 percent of this amount was distributed among football associations, while the net profit of UEFA was 209 million euros," said Koller.

World Cup 2018 will be held in Russia from June 14 to July 15.
