Is it necessary to hold open readings in Odessa of plays by modern playwrights in Odessa?.

Necessary. Because for many actors such readings are a chance to taste a new word, try on new roles, feel "completely different" - unknown earlier.

Fourth Open readings - is the "equator"? Maybe yes. Actors and directors start to argue who will take part. There is hidden and obvious competition. Creative disputes begin. A new opportunity is born - to be seen and heard on the readings. Declare yourself, your ability to play something completely unexpected.

It is no coincidence that actors in the theater of the young spectator take part in the reading - veterans of the theater - and very young, recently started work. Participate and actors of other theaters - not only from the Theater for Young Spectators, which has become a small Odessa homeland for open reading in Ukraine. It was very gratifying for me to see how the eyes of those who are at this time in the auditorium are burning - who this time is not reading. Live, concerned eyes. And this is the most important thing, probably.

What is modern drama? This is the time slice imprinted in the play. This is the "pronouncing" of certain symptoms of time and the state of society. And the performance, staged according to the modern play, can become a session of group art therapy - if everything converges "correctly". Moreover, art therapy not only for the audience, but also for performers.

In Ukraine, now write a lot of plays. Time is so interesting - a turning point, a difficult one, and such a time engenders a new drama - because there is something to write about.

Where can a modern actor read a modern play? Where and when? With the current employment, at a crazy pace of life - there's no time to read, as the actor and director Oleg Shevchuk rightly noted, who took part in several readings.

Therefore, Open readings, proposed and launched by Irina Averina, curator of the international project OpenDoors, fell on grateful soil. Actors, directors and viewers really like to get acquainted with something new - theaters can not please us with premiers every month - it's unrealistic - but in read mode we can "read" plays that we can not even see - because of the very different reasons.

Fourth Readings. Maxim Kurochkin. No romance or embellishment. Sincere texts. Truthful.

First part. "Moving". Read by Oleg Shevchuk.

"Dear Fritz!. "This is a Jew who writes a letter to his friend (?) From a cattle car who drives him to a concentration camp. He writes, wondering, how can you treat people with disgust? After all, they will remember everything, and this is unlikely to benefit the state. Suggests to create a theater - right in the car - the theater always helps people find their vent in hard times and at the same time rally. He sees an inspiring inscription on the gate - "Labor makes free". And this is the final.

It was terrible to listen. And yes, I, too, as some viewers, very sorry that such small masterpieces no one will see. It's unrepeatable! Therefore, when you see an announcement that there will be readings in the Odessa Theater, come! Because the plays will not be read twice. Because such an atmosphere was only at that moment. Because - "in all difficult situations it is necessary to create a theater! "- I will quote freely from" Moving "Kurochkin.

It's not even a play! - how disappointed was one of the spectators. Let's not play. But it was a free choice, and this time the choice fell on "Moving", which was written in a fateful (sorry for the high-spirited word) in 2014.

The second part. Tsurikov. The play, which was written in 2002, played the following year at the Moscow Theater. doc. And sounded in Odessa in February 2018.

A play about finding yourself? About the search for the meaning of life? Values ??of life - here and now? About hell - personal and the one in which we all are afraid to get after death?.

The readings of "Tsurikov" were occupied by actors of three theaters. The director carefully selected the actors. It was nice to see that there are very precise hits in the role. And I would like to see this all more - let on the chamber stage of the Theater of Young Spectators, but see. But how to do it - in read mode or as a performance - I do not yet know. But I really want to see the continuation of work on the "Tsurikov" - because the audience watched this part of the book with bated breath. Means, contact is. There is something to think about. And for actors - there is a good - intellectual and playful - the opportunity to grow.

It was very interesting to watch the actors play, which were "just read!" ", But the text of the play required them to do more. Sergei Frolov, Oksana Burlai-Piterova, Valentina Gubskaya, Andrei Miroshnichenko. Viktor Radu, Alexander Ilvahin, Zlata Skalskaya, Igor Volosovsky, Ira Zhelyaeva, Igor Bolkhovitin, Oleg Shevchuk, Sergey Demchenko and the director of the reading Artem Pogosyan, they enjoyed reading. And the audience felt it, which is very important for the theater. It was very interesting to watch the face of the playwright - Maxim Kurochkin, who came from Kiev specifically for Open Books. And I'm glad that we pleasantly surprised him.. I hope that the Youth Theater will still be able to stage Tsurikov. The audience will have this play.

Most importantly - the faces of those who sat in the hall. You know, when people watch good performances, they get better, cleaner. The main thing is that the plays are "real". And I really want to continue this feast of theatrical spirit.
