The National Anti-Doping Center issued a decision in the case of Captain Shakhtar Dario Srna about violation of anti-doping rules.
Captain Shakhtar Dario Srna, whose doping test was positive, received a 17-month suspension, the official website of the National Anti-Doping Center (NADC).
In March 2017, an unusual sample of endogenous steroid profile components was found in Srna's sample. As a result of additional analyzes by isotope mass spectrometry, it was found that the sample contains exogenous derivatives of dehydroepiandrosterone, which are included in the list of prohibited substances of WADA for 2017.
After September 18, 2017, Srna became aware of an anti-doping rule violation, the Croat voluntarily decided to temporarily suspend his career. Also Srna admitted that he violated the anti-doping rules, but did it unintentionally.
The National Anti-Doping Center took into account the explanations of Captain Shakhtar regarding the circumstances that preceded the testing and came to the conclusion that there was no significant guilt or negligence of the athlete in this violation.
Thus, the NAC made a decision to disqualify Srna for 17 months. At the same time, the period of suspension is calculated from the date of sampling, namely from March 22, 2017, so the athlete will be allowed to participate in competitions from August 22, 2018.
For training with the team Srna will be able to return two months before the end of the suspension, that is, from June 22, 2018.
