Negotiations with militants were held in the participation of senior officials of the Nigerian state through the mediation of the International Committee of the Red Cross. Militants demanded that the authorities pay ransom, but the required amounts are not reported. Among the captives were scientists who were searching for oil deposits in the Lake Chad basin, and women were abducted when they were going to their husbands' funerals.

"Boko Haram" militants consider themselves representatives of "Islamic State" organization in Nigeria. Law enforcers find it difficult to fight terrorists, since most of them hide in the impenetrable jungle. As early as 2014, militants kidnapped more than 280 schoolgirls, who were then exchanged for their fellow prisoners. More than 100 hostages still missing.

As reported in "Ura-Inform", recently in Nigeria, an explosion occurred, killing 11 people.
