This was reported to UNN in the health department of the Uzhgorod City Council.

The cases were recorded on January 30, after which the specialists of the epidemiological research organization department of the Uzhgorod regional branch of the State Institution "Transcarpathian Laboratory Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine" immediately conducted a complex of anti-epidemic measures to localize and eliminate the outbreak.

"The borders of the outbreak and the circle of contact persons were determined, bacteriological examination of 92 contact persons by classes of the school and pedagogical staff, 3 persons from the home, final disinfection was conducted in classrooms and common areas," the City Council.

At school, mass events are limited until February 10 - until the end of the maximum incubation period, an intensified antiepidemic regime is introduced in classrooms - do wet cleaning, repeated airing, irradiation with a bactericidal lamp. A daily inspection of children is conducted.

As reported in the health department, to date the health status of hospitalized children is satisfactory. New cases of hospitalization with suspected meningococcal infection as of February 5, 2018 were registered. The results of bacteriological examinations of all 92 contact points for the school are negative.

Experts argue that the situation that has developed is not an outbreak, since an outbreak is considered the registration of 10 or more cases of meningococcal infection, therefore, experts assured, there is no reason for panic.
