Early presidential elections will be held in Azerbaijan

The corresponding order was given to the local Central Election Commission. The statement was made on Monday, February 5, on the official website of President Ilham Aliyev, the relevant instruction of the CEC was already given by the head of state.

Thus, according to the document, the elections are scheduled for April 11, not October 17, as previously announced.

This order of the Central Election Commission was entrusted with ensuring the holding of extraordinary presidential elections in accordance with the procedure established by the Electoral Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Recall, as reported URA-Inform, the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev appointed his wife Mehriban Aliyeva first vice-president of the republic.

In case he is unable to fulfill his duties, the first vice-president takes over the leadership of the country.

Previously, the spouse of the President of Azerbaijan was a deputy of the Milli Mejlis of the Republic. Before that, she headed the Gymnastics Federation of Azerbaijan, and was the Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO.
