Exploring the Earth's magnetic field of physics came to the conclusion that the magnetic poles of our planet are preparing to swap places, which can lead to catastrophic consequences.

According to scientists, theoretically the North and South magnetic poles of the Earth should change places every 200,000 or 300,000 years, but in fact this did not happen for the last 780,000 years. However, now the magnetic poles all the same began to show signs of a shift, which raises many questions about the future of the Earth, wrote "My Planet" with reference to Newsweek.

The source of the magnetic field is the Earth core consisting mainly of metals. Invisible lines stretched between the poles of the planet, protect its inhabitants from lethal radiation levels and direct sunlight. Thus, the prospect of weakening this field threatens to leave us without sufficient protection.

Moreover, the director of atmospheric and space physics laboratory of the University of Colorado Daniel Baker believes that the next pole shift can make some areas of the Earth uninhabitable. Also, the change in magnetic poles will affect the operation of satellites, which will affect the infrastructure of the entire planet.

Previously, scientists have proven that a person has a built-in "biocompass" that allows you to sense magnetic fields, including the Earth's field. And animals do use a magnetic field instead of a map, which, incidentally, does not always end in a positive way. So, last year it was found out that the cause of death of 29 sperm whales, thrown on the coast of the North Sea, were geomagnetic storms that knocked animals off the right course.
