A secret briefing was held in the US Congress. The main issue was the introduction of new sanctions against Russia. The discussion was attended by the administration of the White House and representatives of the State Department. A member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Democrat Ben Cardin, stressed that the event is secret, so no one will be talking about the details of the conversation. But he nevertheless said that tough measures against Moscow, according to America's plan, are aimed at depriving her of proceeds from trading in military products, the politician said on his page. "The US should be ready to impose sanctions when the law is clearly violated. The administration should not stop on these efforts, and I expect a frequent and regular dialogue on this issue, "Cardin added.. At the same time, the US State Department Heather Neuert believes that now there is no need in sanctions against Russia, since it has already lost billions of dollars. The goal of Washington has been achieved and now all forces are aimed at deterring. According to her, new measures, if they are introduced, will involve foreign companies cooperating with Moscow. Neuert stressed that the sanctions program will last until the Kremlin ceases "the actions for which it began". America has taken up arms against Russia after the annexation of the Crimea and the beginning of the military conflict in Donbass. Washington constantly accused Moscow of illegal actions and the presence of the army in Ukraine. Later in 2016, the White House considered that the Kremlin had intervened in the United States election campaign, but there is no evidence of this.
