The legislation of Ukraine provides for the registration of public organizations that provide assistance to law enforcement agencies in the protection of the public order and the state border, said the adviser to the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Ivan Varchenko, commenting on the situation with the creation of the "National Corps" unit called "National Squads".

This is reported by "Gromadske radio".

"Members of these organizations have the right to maintain public order together with officers of the National Police or the National Guard. The fact that now there are organizations that want to join this process is absolutely legal, they have the right, but together with representatives of the National Police, in accordance with what they agree as to how, in what way and where they will perform such , for example, patrolling in the streets, or on duty, "Varchenko said..

He added that people from these detachments do not have the right to demand documents from citizens.

"In order to fully have the opportunity to protect public order, it is necessary to work together with the National Police, who have the power to check documents from a citizen, perhaps to inspect things, to stop the trucking," said the Interior Ministry adviser.
