Experimental diet Doctors at the University of California observed a group of volunteers who spent two weeks on dietary nutrition. The diet included 55% carbohydrates, 15% protein and 30% fat. Then the subjects received food for ten weeks, in which 25% of the energy received was due to fructose.
At the end of the experiment, participants who switched to fruit nutrition found an increase in body weight, the amount of intra-abdominal fat, increased triglycerides and total cholesterol in the blood. In addition, there was a decrease in tissue sensitivity to insulin. Interestingly, the negative effect of excess fructose affects the body as early as the second day after overeating.
According to the results of the study, it should not be inferred that fruit consumption has a bad effect on the figure and health, on the contrary, they contain many useful vitamins, minerals, essential amino acids and antioxidants. Scientists only remind once again that in excess, even useful becomes harmful.
