Eastern Puma is excluded from the US Federal List of Wild Animals that are Endangered. Predator officially recognized as extinct. The corresponding order is published in the Federal Register of the Daily Journal of the US Government, according to RIA Novosti.

The decision was made in accordance with the American Law on Endangered Species. According to the order, the US Service for the Protection of Fish Resources and Wildlife officially recognizes the eastern puma extinct on the basis of "accessible scientific and commercial information".

Puma has been under surveillance since 1938. There is no evidence of the existence of a population or individual representatives of this subspecies.

The order comes into force on February 22, 2018.
