Ukraine became one of the three largest borrowers of the EBRD

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in 2017 issued loans for a record amount - 9.7 billion euros. This is stated in the bank's statement.

The indicator has been growing for four consecutive years; in 2016, the borrowers were given 9.4 billion euros.

The number of projects that received funding from the EBRD has increased to its highest in history 412 against 378 a year earlier.

The largest recipient of loans was again Turkey, despite the fact that the figure decreased compared to 2016 to 1.54 billion. euro from 1.92 billion euros.

The second place was Egypt: investment in the country grew almost twice - to 1.41 billion euros.

The third place was taken by Ukraine, which received 581 million euros from the EBRD in 2017.

Meanwhile, the volume of loans to projects in the field of "green" energy, in 2017 increased to 4.1 billion euros - from 2.8 billion euros a year earlier. Thus, the share of such projects in the new loans of the bank was 43%, although the EBRD's management previously expected to reach a figure above 40% only by 2020.

Also in 2017, the EBRD for the first time started issuing loans to Lebanon and opened offices in Alexandria, Tangiers and Odessa.
