Ex-player PSG, "Milan" and "Chelsea" George Wea won in the second round of the presidential elections in Liberia and will become the new head of state.

In the second round of voting, Wea won in 12 out of 15 districts, confidently ahead of his opponent, the current vice-president of Liberia, Joseph Bokay, who was in charge of the state for the last 12 years.

We will become the 25th President of Liberia.

Note that in the first round, Wea scored 38.4% of the vote, and Bokay - 28.8%. The second round was to be held in November, but the opponent, who took the third place in the first round, appealed the results in the supreme court.

Note that in 1995, the striker was awarded the "Golden Ball".

And after the end of football career, Wea engaged in humanitarian and political activities. He participated in the elections in 2005, but then he lost.

It's interesting that Wea is one of two owners of the "Golden Ball" (the second is George Best), who never played at the World Championships, and the only trophy winner whose team has never played at the World Championships.
