In Nizhny Tagil, the court passed a verdict on the surgeon, whose fault the patient died.

The incident occurred in early January 2016. Hockey player of the Nizhny Tagil team Sputnik applied to the hospital with a severe abdominal injury. However, the doctor did not render the patient properly qualified medical care, and he subsequently died.

The court found the doctor guilty on part 2 of Article 109 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (causing death by negligence as a result of improper performance by a person of his professional duties) and appointed him 2 years of restriction of liberty, with deprivation of the right to engage in medical activity for a period of 1 year.
