Sea scallops for the French are a popular component of favorite festive dishes on the Christmas table. This year, the demand for these mollusks is particularly high. They literally scatter from the shelves of shops.

According to the estimates of the marine research agency Iphremer, the scallop catch in 2017 is the largest in the last decade. It is four times higher than the average annual rate. All due to weather conditions in spring: warm water and gentle wind.

In addition, in the Brittany region in the north-west of France an additional site is opened where fishermen will be able to extract sea scallops. It is located near the fishing village.
