The European Union demanded immediate action from the Kyiv authorities in order for the citizens of Nezalezhnaya to continue traveling without visas to Europe. The European Commission published a report under the new mechanism for the suspension of the free movement of Ukrainians across the EU. The document notes that in general, Ukraine still fulfills the conditions of visa liberalization, but Kiev needs to pay attention to a number of issues. Brussels has put forward 6 requirements to the Ukrainian leadership. In particular, Kiev should cooperate more actively with the EU in the issue of preventing the risks of irregular migration. Also, Ukraine needs to conduct a campaign to inform its citizens about their rights and obligations under the visa-free regime. In the European Union, it is expected that Kiev will immediately restore the authority of the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption and create the highest anti-corruption court, thus ensuring independence of the reforms. In addition, from Nezalezhnaya demanded the abolition of amendments concerning the electronic declaration of income of anti-corruption activists, as well as to strengthen the fight against organized crime.
For the last commitment, they also called for more funds. Let's remind, the visa-free regime with the countries of the Schengen zone for the Ukrainians is effective from June 11, 2017. Earlier in February, the EU Council approved a new mechanism to suspend visa-free travel with third countries, notes "European Truth". The document outlines five reasons for such a decision. Four of them concern migration. The EU reserves the right to return visas to any country that becomes a source of migration threat. The fifth relates to the rollback of reforms.
