Most media workers - journalists and reporters are behind bars in five countries: China, Turkey, Syria, Iran and Vietnam. It is noted that the number of imprisoned journalists increased by four percent this year. Statistics show that 187 professional journalists, 146 citizen journalists and 15 media workers were persecuted by the authorities. Some of them were released freedom and abandon journalistic activities.

At the moment, 44 professional journalists, seven citizen journalists and three media workers received long prison sentences and are in prison.
