London claims that the situation with repressions against the Crimean Tatar population reached its limit on the peninsula, and therefore it is necessary to adopt a resolution to further resolve the issue of supporting human rights in the temporarily occupied Crimea. Earlier this proposal in the UN regulation was introduced by the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavel Klimkin with an appeal to support the petition despite the opposing position of China, Serbia, Belarus, Russia and Zimbabwe.
"We must keep the course for the support of Ukraine," reads the notification.
As reported in URA-Inform, Ukraine recently ratified two protocols of the Convention for the Protection of Human Rights.
