35-year-old Kochfeldt headed Werder after the dismissal of Alexander Nuri in late October. Since then, Bremen have won three of the six Bundesliga matches, defeating Dortmund Borussia on the road (2-1) and Hannover at home (4-0).
"We saw the desired improvement in the game of the team, so regardless of the outcome of the German Cup against Freiburg, we will give Florian Kochfeldt the opportunity to continue his work," - said the sports director Werder Frank Baumann.
After 17 rounds, Werder scored 15 points and takes 16th place in the standings, behind the safe 15th position by two points.
