In particular, the people's deputies decided by 252 votes that until 2025 the increase in excise tax rates for tobacco products and the minimum excise tax obligation to pay excise tax on tobacco products will gradually but significantly rise. So in 2018, the excise will rise by 11.2% and an additional 16.7% (that is, taking into account the previous indexation on average by 29.7%).

In the following years, there is an increase of 20% to a level equivalent to 90 euro per thousand (now the minimum tax obligation for cigarettes in Ukraine is 20 euro per thousand units - EP).

In addition, the project stipulates that from January 1, 2025, the requirements of the EU Directive on the structure and rates of excise duties applied to tobacco products relative to the share of excise on the weighted average retail price of cigarettes sales of at least 60%.

For this purpose, a mechanism for determining such a price is introduced, "says the explanatory note to the adopted bill.

Recall, as reported URA-Inform, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Thursday, December 7, introduced amendments to the Tax Code of Ukraine. The corresponding law "On Amending the Tax Code of Ukraine to ensure the balance of budget revenues in 2018" was supported by 252 people's deputies.
